Fiddling around for hours on GarageBand led me to actually get serious about completing a song/instrumental, and I finally have what I consider a decent effort. You’ll hear the Kool & The Gang “Summer Madness” inspiration referenced in the title; that same soothing sound for a summer drive.
It also makes me wonder if anyone has actually found success producing music on the GarageBand app. I’m astounded by the number of sounds and samples you can use in a song, with up to 10 tracks and a crisp-sounding finished product. Obviously it’s not going to be as high-quality as sprawling audio boards, drum pads, keyboards and monitors, but for an unemployed college grad with an iPad and a laptop, this is as good as it gets. I think I’ll keep messing around with it and maybe put together an instrumental mixtape. Call me DJ Eazy Cheeze.
